To The Younger Generation…

To the younger generation blog post image advertisement.
@holographicblur @rachaelteasdill on Ig.

Hi Dreamers,

Today’s blog post (as you can tell by the title) is to the younger generation. These are some tips and pieces of advice I wish someone would’ve told me when I was growing up that I thought could still benefit someone else life. You may even find that the title may not apply to you but you can see ways in which you can relate and may even channel them in your present life.

Just like always if you find this post helps you feel free to share it or discuss with any younger family members who might benefit from hearing the points made here.

1. You don’t have to fit in.

Many times during your youthful years, you will find at times you feel out of place and that you might not fit in all of the time the way you wish you would. Trust me when I say your not alone and I can relate. Just know you don’t have to change your self to have a good friend or friendship group around you and you don’t have to change yourself to fit in with the “cool kids”, because honestly, that would be a waste of who you are and ungenuine of you.

2. Embrace who you are.

You are constantly growing and evolving, physically and mentally. Don’t feel bad if you are a slow developer with puberty, boobs and periods. Our body clocks are all different and they will come to you when the times right. If you have an interest and flaw that people will feel the need to point out to you to make you feel bad, don’t listen to them, I know this is easier said then done but if you choose to embrace who you are and your uniqueness; your self-confidence will shine through and it will leave your haters wondering how your doing it.

3. You are not Inferior.

If you find that people around you even friends are trying to put you down and manipulate you, recognize the right and wrong in the situation. Are they taking something you said or how you acted and trying to make you feel bad and unworthy? If yes these people are probably jealous and insecure within their own self and lives and want to make you feel inferior so that it makes them feel good about themselves. Remember how people make others feel about themselves says a lot about people and the motives.

4. The norm is boring anyway.

Look at you, you may have qualities about yourself you wish you could change and you deeply wonder why you can’t look like or be someone else. Like I said before it would be a waste of who you are to want to be someone else, sure you think you look and are different. You feel you’re not like everyone else, that they’ll never understand, but the norm is boring. There are people out their who spend their lives trying to be unique and that can bring someone thing different to the table. It may happen the person/people you wish you were are also unsatisfied with the way they look at times and they too don’t feel as perfect as even you make them out to be.

5. Stick with what you love but don’t be afraid of trying something new.

So you love to dance? make art? play guitar and sing? play a type of sport? play with a chemistry set? It’s great when you find your passions as a young child or person because you never know that may help you find the direction you want to go in, in life and it will help you discover your purpose. Sometimes you may grow out of stuff but that okay, don’t be afraid to take up another hobby and try something new, there no harm in trying and what have you got to lose?!

When your younger you family members or people around you may make you feel bad about what you love to do, because “it’s not cool” but it may turn out they’re just envious that they don’t have something they love, the way you love your hobby.

6. Love and embrace your youth while you still have it.

At times you may get caught up in your insecurities but try not to let them dictate on how you live your life, people look back on their younger years and sometimes wish things were different. I also think we should encourage children and young people not to grow up so fast, it’s a waste of their time and I think you should be able to enjoy yourself while it lasts and not have to worry about adulthood and issues you shouldn’t have to worry about.

7. Learn to not care what others think.

Stop caring about what others think of you. yep I said it. The people who criticize you will always try to put their negativity on to you and try to make you think that their opinion is valid or necessary when it isn’t. If you didn’t ask for it, don’t listen and remind them if they’ve got nothing nice to say don’t say anything at all. Remember it’s all about mind over matter.

8. Focus and try your best.

When it comes to school I think everyone will have some they love or hate about it, whether it be the lessons, how the schools run, the people in it (teachers and students) but remember to always focus in each lesson so you know your taking advantage of all opportunities at school to learning the most and doing your best with what they choose to teach.

For me, I always disliked maths as I didn’t understand a lot of the time and although I did the best I could I felt there was always some block, but one day during secondary school maybe year 9 or 10 I just decided and tried to change my perspective on it. This helped me do a bit better every time with my grades and when you see the progress you may gain confidence in your performance of the subject. We never stop learning as people, so if you can discipline yourself at a younger age and try your best, this will help you when you’re older. If you try you’re best you’re less likely to regret not putting enough effort into your work.

9. Work, Work, Work.

Something I have slight regret was not getting a job as early as I could’ve, as it would’ve helped me get a foot into work life and given me confidence in the workspace and also start to have an income. But if like me you weren’t that encouraged to do so, not even for a paper round then maybe have a chat with your parents and If they are supportive of it and it’s something you really want to do to help better yourself in the future then I would 100% go for it.

It will also help you understand how to manage your time and money better and let you understand that just because the money is there that doesn’t mean you have to splurge and waste it on things you don’t need. Also if you start gaining experience for your CV, it’s more likely to help you get a job as stores and businesses like it when you have experience. Remember to try and work in a space that guarantees your safety and that your parents/guardians have a good understanding of your place or role of work

10. Don’t take everything too seriously.

You have your whole life ahead of you, and yes there is a lot of horrible and disgusting things happening in the world to take seriously and wonder about but try to stay light-hearted and enjoy your life. You don’t have to be doing what everyone else is doing, and If I were you I’d stay away from social media altogether, as, in my opinion, it’s not good at feeding your soul and doesn’t help you overcome your insecurities. It may be damaging in the long run.

I really hope you like this post, I’ve been thinking up and planning to create some good and original content that people can look back on over and over again. Let me know any idea’s for blog content and your thoughts on what I’ve discussed here.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for my next blog posts.

LOVE,

Mini Jewellery Haul

Hey Dreamers,

So recently I’ve purchased some really lovely and affordable jewellery pieces that I thought would be soo nice to put into a blog post for you guys but to also have an excuse to take a few too many photos of them.

All jewellery pieces were purchased from a small Jewellery shop on Depop called Pipsqueaks Pieces, with the account handle @gr0wing_pains.

Admittedly I don’t normally buy much jewellery, just the odd earrings every now and then, but I thought I’ve been pretty good with budgeting my money this past year and that it might nice to buy a few pieces that will help me transition with spring through to summer, and I’m really happy with my choices.

This shop is great because of the products it sells and also that they do bundle deals such as their 3 for £5 deal, with just £1 for P&P. If you too have a Depop account and like what I’ve purchased, I really recommend this seller to you.

These are a few photos from a little photo shoot I created, as you can see the background was a new notebook with white paper I purchased recently from Poundland, they have a cute selection you sound check out if you need a notebook for any classes or journaling. I also used an iPhone and tablet wooden stand purchased from Ikea. All jewellery was brand new as you can tell, I really look forward to wearing them.

(If you use or see my photos used anywhere without crediting me or my blog please call them out and contact me via the contact form or social media, thank you).

Until my next post.

Lazy Oaf, a Fashion Film

Hey Dreamers,

So it’s a day after my hand in for the fashion film unit and yesterday was just such a weird day, after not being able to access software in my uni library, having a tutor help me out with my corrupted film file before the hand in time and even not having any sleep prior to the morning of my hand in. I was honestly just to tried from completing and tweaking my niche brand report and my marketing report that I just wanted the hand in and the morning over already.

IMG_3714.JPG

The good news is the film was able to be saved, not to the extent of it looking how I’d edited it but it was finally export for Youtube, hens the title of this blog post. I faced a lot of obstacles such as the backdrop on the day of the shoot, lateness from a model, finding royalty free music as well as not feeling well; I was so exhausted that when I got home I was just feeling so tired and felt a Migraine coming on. I really didn’t want that to happen cos my last and worst Migraine, I had given my head excruciating pain as well as forgetfulness of who people were.

I got to edit my film alongside nearly completing everything else this week but due to my film not being able to export because of all the glitching and error’s it set me back big time, which meant I had to put more focus onto the film and instead of the other things that I needed complete.

Anyway enough about the negatives, I hope you’re all having a great weekend and I’ll leave you all with the link to my film.

Happy Saturday!!

Forget V Day, it’s Me Day Honey!

Hey Dreamers!!

me day not v day

So you’re single on Valentine’s Day (just like me). Well not to worry because, Today is all about you SISTA!!

Just because you don’t have a significant other to spend the day with doesn’t mean you have to feel blue, the right guy will come along in no time; but for now embrace being single and have a bright, happy day! That may be easier said than done seeing as where I live has pretty much rained all day but not to worry, you just need to remember the weather’s not a reflection on how you feel today, sometimes the clouds have just got to cry for a while.

A few TIPS I have for my fellow singletons Today is to forget about Social Media today, and I do mean all kinds, there’s no point in making yourself feel bad by comparing your day to others who are in relationships and posting all those Chocolates and Boracay’s of Flowers everywhere you turn.

It also could be good for you to have a little break from them, no you’re not going awol! You’re simply having a day to yourself! Even if you’re at work today, with colleagues who like to remind you how single you are at the moment, remember there is a lot of people out there in relationships for the sake of being in a relationship or not to be alone, some people just don’t feel complete. So if you show up in a good mood and they wonder why, you know you don’t need to randomly find a date; just to spend your evening with someone.

If you’ve got some friends who, too are single, have a sleepover and watch some of your Favourite movies, with some food of your choice (I’m thinking Pizza?!); or as an alternative have a night out to a Club or Bar, and GO LIVE YOUR BEST LIVES!!

If it’s just you in your friendship group without a significant other, just have a movie night for one! Remember you get to choose your Movie selection, and decide if you wanna make your favourite meal in or go for the TAKE OUT; ’cause you only live once.

Today will pass in no time, I’m sure! but for now, I hope you all have a wonderful day and I’ll leave you with this song I’ve recently discovered – Home With You!

How is everyone? December is finally here and it’s time to get your Advent Calendars out, and to start getting into the swing of Christmas.

I’ve listened to some Christmas songs but I’m yet to dive right into them, what’s your favourite Christmas songs, I’d really like to know so that I can also be exposed to other songs 🙂

So I handed in my Design Identity unit about 2 Fridays ago now, and it was a bit nerve-racking if I’m honest. A few complications occurred last minute with my USB so some work wasn’t able to be handed in but it’s pretty much all done now; just waiting for my referral. #positivethoughts

Also some good news, Holographic Blur is back on Instagram, so I’ll be able to update you all on sneak peaks of my future posts through visual recordings on our Instagram feed.

My First Impressions on Noughty Hair Products

Hi Dreamers,

Today’s blogpost is going to be my first impressions and experience with using Noughty Hello Wave Shampoo and Conditioner.

To all my followers that recently saw my post on going sulphate and silicone free then you knew this blogpost was in the works and was going to be posted Today, welcome back guys! ☺️ But if you’ve not yet read that blogpost you should be able to find it under this blogpost so you’re all caught up.

So last week I was shopping online on the Superdrug website finally got around to purchasing this Shampoo and Conditioner, after watching some Impressions and Reviews on YouTube. As most of the time I don’t buy something unless I’ve read or watched reviews of the website or products I’m looking to use or purchase.

The reviews I saw were pretty good and I thought I haven’t got much to loose seeing as my hair was gradually becoming more unattainable with every wash like I mentioned in my last blog post.

NOTE: I was going to purchase this in store but they didn’t have the 2 for £9 offer on the Shampoo and Conditioner in store but did on their website, and I really didn’t want to buy them as they were at £6.99 each. It’s not too bad if you can afford that but being a student in third year I’m trying to constantly save as much money as possible, as I’m unable to work at the moment because of personal reasons.

When transitioning into sulphate and silicone free hair products, you’ll want to shampoo your hair with your original shampoo that you’ve been using with sulphate in. To break down and help get rid of any existing silicone in the hair.

When using the Noughty shampoo I lathered it up and it be came a bit cold but the feel was very soft and soothing, not to mention it smelt soo nice.

The conditioner was pretty think which was easy to work into really damp hair, more so at the ends of my hair. CAUSE GURRRL THOSE ENDS NEEDED CONDITIONING! 😂

After a few washes I could already feel a slight change to my hair, girls with long hair may relate as this is the time you squeeze out all the dripping, excess of water and then wrapped that up with a towel for a few minutes.

I normally do this or leave it in a bun and leave the rest of my hair to air dry as I’ve never been too much of a fan of blow drying with all that heat. It’s been a few months since my first experience and I have transitioned into the rise and shine edition and I feel this is more suited to my hair type.

Thank you for catching up with me in this particular post! I hope you’re doing well and feel free to like, comment and share this post to friends!! Speak to you in my next blog post,

Going Sulphate and Silicone Free.

Hi Dreamers,

Today’s blogpost is going to be a bit different as I’ll be chatting to you about my first impressions and experience with Noughty Hello Wave Shampoo and Condition.

Before I begin, I may add this might be quite a long one, so grab a snack and your fave’ hot drink and let’s get into the blogpost!!

img_1024-1

The hair care brand Noughty is a British brand that produce products which are sulphate (sulfate), silicone, free. They’re also vegan too! What more could a person want?!

After discovering how bad silicone is for your hair and that it’s literally in so many products (not only for your hair I might add), but also that it strips your hair from natural oils, doesn’t let any moisture into the hair and dawn right damaging to any curly girls out there!

Sulphate helps to prevent silicone build up on the scalp and hair, still, you don’t want to be using silicone products without sulphate products like shampoo.

For a good couple months I did a lot of research in my free time into how’s they’re bad for your hair, other girls experiences and hair products in the UK that are free from all of the bad properties.

I finally came across Noughty hair products while shopping online at Superdrug. I couldn’t believe I’d found something that is actually in stores (that is in the UK and is a correct brand) and that not toooo pricey for what I’ve been looking for.

SPOILER:

In my blog post coming Saturday will be my first impressions and experience with Noughty hair products.

INGREDIENTS TO LOOK OUT FOR:

-Dimethicone

-Methicone

(Anything with ‘cone’ at the end.)

– Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)

Thank you for popping in for today’s blogpost, I really hope you enjoyed this little switch up on content! Feel free to Star, comment, share to any of your friends or family. Even if they don’t have curly/wavy hair.

Travel Essentials

travel essentials title

Hey Dreamers,

So as you may know, from reading my previous blog posts that my family and I will be off to Center Parcs for a week, enjoying a bit of sun, activities and some nature. The first and last time I went was when I was 13 yrs old, so this time may be a little different as me and my sisters have grown up a lot since about 8 yrs ago.

For Today’s blog post, I will be going through some of my travel essentials for an in-country (a few days to a week or so long) holidays. Let’s start off with my suitcase!

suitcase-by rachael teasdill for holographic blur

IMG_0092

For my suitcase, I purchased some travel laundry pouch/bags from Amazon to help organise all that I needed to take with me.

Like anything to do with packing, whether it be for a sleepover of 1 week holiday I always make a simple list of what I will be needing/what I need to pack with me, as personally, this helps to visualise them and how to pack sufficiently.

I visualised and planned any outfits and had each piece go with one another so I could make the most of what I had and swap it up if I felt the need to once I was there. I rolled up any loose trousers and t-shirts, only taking one 3/4 sleeve cardigan with me as it was Summer and it was unnecessary to take anything else like this. I packed all clothing items in the same compartment, keeping the same version of one but 2 half the size; one for undergarments like bras, knickers and socks and the other for the other two pairs of shoes I chose to take. 1 pair of sandals, for around the accommodation and inside along with another pair of trainers (which could be considered more dressy).

wash bag rt for holographic blur The wash bag I used was part of a x3 set of wash bags from Primark, by using the larger one I used this for all my shower and skin care products, this came especially helpful when it came to showering, brush teeth and hair and anything for the face. I then used the medium sized one for any makeup products, sanitary towels, paracetamol and plasters.

All sizes came in handy for any additional things. I really recommend these type of wash bags, as they can be helpful for the organisation or for when you have holidays, sleepover; even when you go swimming at a sports centre and use the showers afterwards.

backpackIn my backpack throughout my stay, I had my (grey polaroid) Instax camera, a bottle of water, sunglasses (in case) etc as it was helpful and easy to have my most used and essential products in my bag with me anytime we did or went somewhere.

The backpack I chose to use was one of my sisters’ old ones purchased from Primark. It’s a very practical size, I was able to fit quite a few things in it, it’s also a navy blue type of velvet material which also went well with all the casual outfits. As you can tell by the photo above I also brought along my Instax camera for capturing memories which I put in my suitcase once we got there, as well as a small jewellery box, for when I wore any small hoops or simple necklaces and wanted to store them in a secure place; or just having the option out of a few I selected to bring along.

Rachaelteasdill.travel

These are a couple more photos on the function of the suitcase. In these photos, you can also see I brought along my wash body towel and my laptop, for when and if I wanted to do a bit of summer project work or just use it to watch Youtube videos or anything on the ITV hub.

RachaelTeasdill.travel.

This concludes my travel essentials blog post, I hope this was of interest to you or helped you in some way for when you next travel or anything similar to that. Don’t forget to like, comment and share this with any Family and friends.

Until my next blog post,

Hey Dreamers,

this month I’ve gotten into a couple new things such as programmes, activities, and  SHOES!! To start off with, here are a few Netflix series that I’ve recently gotten into this month; let me know in the comments if you’ve watched any of these and your opinions on them.

This month I had a lovely weekly stay at center parcs, although the room was really stuffy when it came to me going to sleep, I really enjoyed waking up to the nature outside my bedroom window, my family had fun swimming and we also had a few bike rides while we were there. I haven’t ridden a bike for a good few years now so the initial first minute took a bit of getting used to, but I was looking forward to cycling prior to the trip and it just reminded me how much I love and have missed it.

If you’d like to see a few photos I took while being there you can check them out on a saved story on my Ig @RachaelTeasdill. I also have a short film in progress so stayed tuned on my blog and Youtube channel.

This month I’ve been loving Ariana Grande’s new singles at the moment, especially ‘God Is A Woman’. The visuals for the music video are so stunning and iconic, this could be the best song and music video to date; in my opinion.

On youtube, I’ve rediscovered the American solo singer, songwriter ‘Kiana Ledé which I first found when she posted covers of songs, and really like her voice and her interpretation of the songs. She’s recently come out with her Debut Ep ‘Selfless’ and it’s so good. If you’re into the R&B/Soul genre definitely check it out here.

My fave’s at the moment are ‘Ex’, ‘Fairplay’ and ‘Show Love’.

I also purchased a pretty good quality printer/scanner for my personal summer project of firstly creating prints and t-shirts with my illustrations on, I’m currently in the process of experimenting and developing my illustrations for this small business. I’m really excited about this as it’s been a long time coming, always a dream in the back of my head but I’m trying to keep telling myself ‘just go for it’ as ‘I have nothing to lose’.

Feel free to comment what you’d like to see on the prints and t-shirts, I have a good idea of what I want to produce but I’m always open to concepts and other themes that my target market might also enjoy…

I hope you enjoyed this month’s roundup, as you can tell by the title I thought it would be a good idea to change it up a bit. I also have a few interesting blog posts coming soon that I think you’ll love as I’m aiming to get back into the swing of creating content for my little space on the internet. Anyway till my next blog post,

21 Things I learnt at 21 (2017)

Hey Dreamers,

I turned 21 a couple of days ago!!

21 sign

Still feels weird to say seeing as I still feel about 19, but I thought it’d be nice to put together some things I learned up to the age of 21 and so I can reflect back to these on my next Birthday; which is about 9 Months away. I also thought it might interesting and a bit original (if I do say so myself) so use some of my favourite quotes and lessons in life, either through short poems or short sentences.

  1.  No matter what our circumstance, we always have something to be thankful for.

2. Don’t take life so seriously.

3. Have self-care Sundays from now on to create, pamper and reflect.

4.  Do more for yourself.

5. You don’t owe anyone pretty.

6. Don’t burn yourself out just to light someone else’s flame

7. Gratitude and Appreciation go a long way, let your friends and family know you care.

8. Music, incense, and candles feed the soul. (Take some time to manifest your intentions for the day).

9. People don’t care enough to judge you in every day, passing life if they do it’s for a split second and then they carry on with their day. (You are worth more than people’s opinions of you, and you deserve to go out and live your life).

10. There is no growth in the comforts zone

11. (Aim to be a good, respectable human being). Kindness is free, sprinkle that shit everywhere.

12. It doesn’t matter who you are or how nice you are, people will always form an opinion on you based on how they perceive you. RCT

13. What you think, you create. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine you become. -Anonymous

14. “If you want to Sour in life, you must first learn to F.L.Y (First Love Yourself)”. – Mark Sterling

15. How people treat you is not a reflection of your worth. RCT

16. Never stop being creative at heart. RCT

17. Honestly, no one on this planet truly knows what they’re doing in life, sure some have an idea but most of us are just going with the flow that is our life. RCT

18. “Thoughts become perception, perception becomes reality. Alter your thoughts, alter your reality”. – William James / 18.1: “The greatest dictionary of my generation is that a human being can alter his(her) life by altering his(hers) attitudes”. – William James

19.  Always make time for yourself, some ‘me’ time can be a good for reflection as well as doing something you love. RCT

20. Never stop being a student in life, there is always something to learn. RCT

21. ‘”Grow through what you go through”. – Anonymous

This year for me so far has been really about reflecting on who I want to be, aiming to do more of what I love and become a better version of myself.

Thank you for sticking around if you got through all of those, I plan to share a ‘What I received for my 21st’ and ‘What I got for Christmas (2017)’ blog posts; which will be available at the start of the New Year. Until my next post,

Catch Up With Rach!

Hey Dreamers!

Here with another catch up with Rach, I concept I created to update and have catch up. As you can tell I’ve pretty new to blogging officially and admittedly very inconsistent but that’s something I’m working on this year. 🙂

Firstly I have a new blog post up titled Mini Jewellery Haul that I think you’ll enjoy. Right now I’m finishing up with my second year of Uni and dawn it’s been interesting, stressful, great, a bit like a rollercoaster really. My current and last project was a live project with GFW which you may or may know about. You can find more about it here.

The Holographic Blur Instagram is now up to date so you can now go and check that out, I also have a few Monthly Favourites blog posts up, filled with content such as videos and music playlists that I think you’ll like, if you do read any of them feel free to comment; as always I love hearing what my readers have to say.

I’m currently thinking of making plans with my Sister to go to Harry Potter World, as she’s found a new interesting in the wizarding world and I think she’ll love the experience. I’m also preparing myself for tomorrow, as with my uni group, we’ll be helping out at the Fashion show in my local town, which will be interesting to have the experience not only for my CV but to gain a better understanding on how Uni fashion shows work.

Within the past few weeks, I’ve been purchasing and listening to some new music that you may find in my Monthly Favourites/Music Playlists, artists like Anne Marie, Camila Cabello, and Charlie Puth and well seeing as I thought I’d share these with you I ask you to listen to each one with an open mind as you may surprise yourself and find music that you will love. I know I have and continue to, you can check out their new albums that I listened to by clicking on their names.

I’m encouraging myself to read more as it’s from one of my new year’s resolution and as I have more time to do more of what I love it’ll be easier to make time for it along with drawing, I’m also thinking of getting a summer internship or get a job this summer. I personally think these will help me grow and learn more as a person. Speaking of drawings I’ve recently illustrated a portrait of an old friend from school, which took me a few hours to draw; which you can find on my main Instagram.

A sneak peek into this months favourites, I love to sing, and a song I recommend is THIS, and a series I’ve watched HERE. I hope you’ve had a lovely day and continue to learn and grow in this beautiful, horrible, weird world we live in.

Until my next blog post.
